Sorry for the long time radio silence. Unfortunately entering my Senior year of college while working 40+ hours a week kills any time I would normally have to put towards this site. I will come back though. With a vengeance!
Until then… a little diversion.

I saw a neat article that focuses on our hometown Greensboro, NC and comics. Who would’ve guessed the two would ever combine and make the news?
It seems as though a bunch of comic book fans grouped together in costume and joined the city council on April 16th. One, a very well made up Green Lantern, and a second an equally well dressed Captain America. At first the city security would not let the Green Lantern in but it was met with a well sounded “Really guys? Come on? It’s Green Lantern…” and they eventually let him in to watch the proceedings. The whole thing was because of that sacred and special day that is coming up shortly (Free Comic Book Day for those of you that don’t know) and because of this the city council declared that every first Saturday of May they would change the name of the city to Comic Books City, USA. Of course I don’t see this going on any books anytime soon but at least they humored the comic geeks in the room and made me a little bit happier. Maybe they were worried about a little nerdrage going down if they didn’t appease the people there…
Here is the link for any interested in the actual story.

Anyways, I just want to encourage you all to go and help support your local comic book stores and give them lots of business. Not just on Free Comic Book day but become a regular shopper and subscriber if you can. I was saddened to see our local comic store here in High Point (GVE or Good Vs. Evil Comics) shut its doors last month. They were great guys and I hope they continue with the hobby in one way or another.
This is a really tough gig to run and I have been no exception. Even though I just run an eBay centered store right now I have been finding it extremely hard to sell much of anything recently. The economy is in the gutter and the first hobby that gets affected is the collectibles market. Because of this the prices for comics goes way down and you are lucky if you can even give them away some times. Plus with eBay increasing their fees it has been tough to make any semblance of a profit on any product. I am still in love with the hobby though and I won’t leave it unless someone drags me away kicking and screaming.
So, this was a little long but I thought it would be nice to get a more personal post out there and see what you guys (and girls) think. In conclusion I have a couple questions to ask.
1. Where do you go to get your comics and where will you be on Free Comic Book Day? (May 5th)
2. What is your view on the economy and where do you see the comics and games industry going in the next few years?
3. Do you like posts like this more where I actually talk about a subject in depth or would you rather I just continue with the nerdy news and post funny videos?
