Best. LEGO. Ever. LEGO Middle-Earth!

LEGO Middle-Earth: Yes. All of It.

This is amazing! It says that it took the team about a year to plan and build the entire thing. The amount of detail is just incredible. I especially love the Minas Tirith. I am so happy that there are mega geeks out there like this. Now excuse me as I try to recreate the Tardis from Dr. Who with my meager collection.

How to Build a Jenga Dice Tower

I decided to try and make a decently inexpensive Dice Tower over the weekend. I got the idea from Evan Derrick on Board Game Geek. The thread can be found here.

To start out I cut out the basic shape of the base. I originally lined up the Jenga block over it to get the shape I wanted. I decided against using the Scrabble board like in the original post because I thought the 1/4″ Poplar would be a bit more durable. Plus it was $4.00 for a 4 foot long section at Home Depot. this step would be a lot easier if I had a miter or table saw. As it is the hand saw I had worked after sawing for a couple of minutes.

Board Games on CBS News

I was very happy to see this wonderful look into the world of better board games. CBS did a great job of showing that there are many more options out there besides Candy Land and Monopoly. I was really happy to see the reporter even take part in a couple of the games himself. Also, the interview with Scott from Board Games With Scott was a cool thing to see on the news as well.

So, my question to you is… Do you think that the Euro-Style games that we play now are going to take over the board game market that is dominated now by Monopoly and the like? Is this niche group going to become more mainstream?

Live Action Invader Zim!

Okay so maybe not exactly “Live Action” but it is as close as you’re going to get unless someone decides to go down that horrible path. I don’t know why exactly but I really enjoy watching cartoon voice talent doing their thing in front of the mic. Something about breaking the fourth wall or seeing the man behind the curtain. I’m really happy to see these guys at their best. And seriously, who would have every thought the guy that does Zim’s voice would be so chill on stage.

Strange Yet Intriguing Theme Song Medley

This brought me back. Well, except for the Pokemon theme. I never really watched that as a kid. I did rock some TMNT and Ducktales!

Let me know what you think!

The Ultimate DM Screen!

DM Screen Front

DM Screen Back

I came across this a couple of days ago and I must say that I am very impressed with the level of detail.

While I do believe this could be the ultimate in DM Screens I also believe that many of the geeks that will drool over this won’t be able to afford the $150 price tag attached to it. The price is understandable. I mean, the whole thing is made of a high quality resin. It has a freaking dice tower built in! Unfortunately, I will be included in the group that will just be drooling over this. Unless of course someone wants to get me a review copy :) Props to Gale Force Nine and WoTC for this awesome accessory.

Let me know if you guys have any other gaming accessories that you can’t live without. Or even some that you wish you could have but there is no way you could afford.

Dungeon Twister on the Xbox 360/PS3

I was floored by this video. The game Dungeon Twister is a wonderful 2-player game by Christophe Boelinger. I haven’t had a lot of experience with it but the few times I have played I loved it. Now they are making a version of it for the Xbox 360 and PS3. I’m definitely going to have to check it out. Despite the hilarity of ogres and mages dancing to a rap song the game itself is pretty deep yet funny in the tongue in cheek kind of way and I am glad that they could make a funny video that holds that kind of humor for the game.

Going Cardboard

This is a documentary in process that is near and dear to my heart. It is all about board gaming (specifically euro board gaming) and the collectors within the hobby. If you have a second check out the video and head over to Kickstarter.com and pledge. Even $1 will help get this great documentary made about an even greater hobby.

Here is the link to the main website for the doc as well.

LEGO Carcassonne

http://www.iamcal.com/lego-carcassonne/

Looks like Cal Henderson from iamcal.com decided to design his own interlocking Carcassonne game out of Legos. The design is amazing and I would love to make a set myself. However, after reading the comments where he said it would cost upwards of $25 a tile to order the individual pieces through LEGO I believe I will have to hold off.

I really do love the way this looks. Even if the tiles would be hard as crap to place in a crowded board.
